ISA Sport: adding value to create safe and durable sport facilities
The Netherlands based Institute for Sports Facilities, (Instituut voor Sportaccommodaties BV), known as ISA Sport, is an independent professional body specialising in top quality, hard-wearing and safe sports facilities. ISA Sport is world market leader in all aspects of testing sports facilities. A subsidiary of Kiwa, ISA Sport head office is at the heart of Dutch sporting excellence in the Papendal Dutch National Sports Centre.
ISA Sport began in the Netherlands in 1959 and has been operating internationally for many years. Our core business is based on carrying out research into various aspects of quality and safety, as well as the inspection of national and international sport facilities.

Quality at this level is essential, and ISA Sport is ISO 9001 certified, as well as having the ISO 17025 accreditation of the Dutch Accreditation Council for testing artificial turf for football. This accreditation applies to both laboratory and field testing.
As sports clubs, sporting bodies and governments across the world become increasingly aware of the need to build high-quality, long-lasting and safe sports facilities ISA Sport is responding by making the experience and expertise built up over the past 50 years internationally available via international offices and carefully-selected agencies. This means we are improving our research capacity and effectiveness, and extending our inspection activities to include international sport facilities.
An important service provided by ISA Sport is in carrying out independent safety inspections. Facilities and equipment are inspected according to the latest national and international standards, and assessed to see if they meet the highest quality criteria. ISA Sport independent inspectors carry out inspections for both indoor sports (sports surfaces and buildings) and outdoor facilities (civil engineering constructions).
Whatever your sport, ISA Sport guarantees safety, reliability and durability for numerous types of facilities. In our own laboratories in the Netherlands, we carries out ongoing research into materials and civil engineering constructions. Sports surfaces, for example, are first thoroughly tested in the lab or testing station and only when they have passed initial tests do they go out for full testing on location. It is here that ISA Sport assesses their suitability as a surface in practice.
