Kiwa ISA Sport Notified Body

1-8-2012

Kiwa ISA Sport has recently been designated as a Notified Body by the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The institute has since been registered in Brussels as an official body that awards CE marks for indoor surfaces for multi-sports use in accordance with EN 14904:2006.

A registered inspection body (RIB) or Notified Body (NoBo) is an inspection or testing body designated by the government that has to test whether products are compliant with the applicable (European) directives. A product can only be brought onto the European market once it complies with these European directives.

The EN 14904:2006 standard specifies the requirements that indoor surfaces for multi-sports use have to meet. A manufacturer or importer has to be able to demonstrate that his product is complaint with it and furthermore has to make this visible by applying a CE mark on the product. It is often compulsory to get an AKI or NoBo involved in the process of obtaining a CE mark. This is in fact the case for indoor surfaces for multi-sports use.

With this notification, Kiwa ISA Sport has demonstrated that the performance of its laboratory is up to European standards. It has met all the necessary requirements in terms of independence and technical execution.
