Renewal of ISO 17025 accreditation

1-8-2012

The accreditation of Kiwa ISA Sport for ISO/IEC 17025:2005 has been renewed for a period of four years. The Accreditation Council recently carried out an assessment of the work of Kiwa ISA Sport and on the basis of this decided to renew its accreditation.

ISO/IEC 17025 ‘General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories’ is a standard which contains the criteria that a quality management system of a test laboratory has to meet. The NEN-ISO 17025 specifies strict requirements for the competence to carry out tests. The aim is to guarantee that the test laboratory constantly reports demonstrably reliable results.

Kiwa ISA Sport is accredited to carry out tests on artificial turf football surfaces and to test the so-called HIC-value (Head Injury Criterion) of play surfaces. The accreditation applies for both the relevant laboratory tests and the field tests.

In order to be able to meet the requirements of ISO 17025, a test institute has to be able to demonstrate that it has properly calibrated equipment, expert staff and a quality assurance system that guarantees that all data reported has been obtained with the aid of reliable and valid measuring instruments. It should be possible to trace every result back to an international standard.
